As the needs of our community continue to grow, Neighbors in Action is excited to expand our services to feed the community, offer socially enriching programs, and foster self-sufficiency, all while focusing on healthy food as the catalyst that brings us together.
From January to May, Neighbors in Action Food Share Programs distributed 89,410 pounds of nutritious food to community members needing support due to the rising costs of everything from gas to food. Inflation affects everyone, but most significantly, community members on tight budgets.
Our Cabot and NEK Harvest Hub Program (an online farmer’s market) brings together local farmers and artisans with supportive community members who understand the value of buying local. Through the Harvest Hub, we facilitated the sale of $9,392 of locally grown food and handcrafted goods. I encourage you to check out the Harvest Hub at:

This spring, Neighbors in Action expanded our programming to include the Healthy Family Cooking Program. This program promotes cooking with a twice-monthly distribution of everything needed to make a healthy family meal, including recipes, fresh produce, and even a chance to win cooking appliances like crockpots, pots, and pans. We truly believe we can positively impact the health of our community through providing nutritious food options and encouraging others to cook!
Finally, I am excited to announce that Elizabeth Vitale will be taking on the role of executive director at Neighbors in Action! I will then be stepping into the role of development director. The transition allows both Elizabeth and me to expand our support of the community, our employees, and the organization. Please join me in welcoming Elizabeth to the Neighbors in Action team!
It is a privilege to support our community, and if you haven’t already done so, we invite you to join us as a volunteer, participant, or financial supporter. May you enjoy this glorious time when the sun shines so bright!
With gratitude,
Cynthia Stuart
Outgoing Executive Director
